Where time slows down

A quiet hideaway by the trail where time slows down

Sundaze wasn’t created to be just another holiday rental in the Azores. It was designed to be a pause.

It was envisioned as a weekend house, far from the rush, close to the sea, on the north coast of São Miguel Island. Over time, it became more than that. It became a shared refuge, a space where each guest finds their rhythm: slower, more present, more gentle.

In the morning, the light enters softly. The house wakes slowly: coffee in the kitchen, the sound of the sea in the background, and a feeling that here, everything can wait. The space is simple, functional, and comfortable. A bright bedroom, an open-plan living area, a practical kitchen, and a discreet bathroom.

But the true heart of the house is the terrace. That’s where you see the sea, no barriers, no distractions, just horizon. A corner made with intention: seating built from wooden pallets and cushions, perfect for resting, reading, or simply gazing out. Opposite, a table with chairs for outdoor meals, where the sunset is the finest seasoning.

There’s no decorative luxury, but there is care: lightweight linen, wood, plants, natural light, and intention. Sundaze isn’t a luxury house. It’s a house with truth.

Sundaze is located in Fenais da Luz, a rural and coastal parish on the island of São Miguel in the Azores. Ideal for those seeking a holiday home far from the noise, yet directly connected to the sea and nature.

At the entrance to the house, there’s a pasture. Through the windows of the bedroom and living room (small, but open to the outside), you can see the green and with a bit of luck, spot the local cows passing by. A small, unexpected, but memorable detail typical of the simple rhythm of Azorean countryside life.

The street where the house is located is part of the Vigia de São Pedro trail, a raw and little-known coastal path that follows the cliff edge, weaves through rock and vegetation, and offers silence and landscape in equal measure.

Just a few minutes’ walk away, there’s a hidden pebble beach, honest, unspoilt, without crowds or facilities. Just sea. If the water is calm, you can swim. If not, you simply sit, listen to the waves breaking, and feel time slow down.

A guest once said they arrived full of plans: lists, timetables, places to visit. By the second day, they simply stayed. The sea, the trail and the terrace were enough.

Sundaze is made of that: time that stretches out. Days are measured not in sights, but in feelings.

It’s a small house, on a quiet street, but with a view you’ll carry home with you. It doesn’t promise luxury. It promises authenticity. And that, these days, is becoming rare.

You are just here. And these days, that’s increasingly rare.
